On Thursday ,the 6th of December 2018,the The MSc thesis discussion of student Mohammed Jameel Ali from department of Mathematics entitled The Comparison Study of Some Estimation Methods for the Reliability Function )has been discussed<\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 The exponential distribution is one of the most popular life time distributions because of its own features and desirable properties. Thus, the objective of this study is to derive and compare some classical and Bayesian estimators as well as our proposed estimator of the parameter \u0275 and reliability function R(t) of the exponential distribution\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Bayesian estimators have been derived under six different loss functions, namely squared error loss, modified squared error loss function, precautionary loss function, Deg root loss function, entropy loss function and linear exponential loss function based on informative and non informative prior. The Monte Carlo simulation technique was employed to generating random samples from the exponential distribution. The MSE was used as criteria of comparison between different estimators of the parameter \u0275, while the estimators of the reliability functions were compared by employing IMSE as criteria. The main conclusion we reached in general is that the performance for Bays estimator for \u0275 and R(t) with Gamma prior is the best for most cases, moreover, the proposed method performs in an acceptable manner in many cases<\/span><\/h3>\n
