\u00a0The study was carried out in the Shaab area in the northeast of Baghdad (as an applied model) for the year 2018, to study the quality of street dust (pavements) and its contribution to air pollution by dust and heavy metals. The samples were taken from three streets according to the study area (High traffic density, medium traffic density, and residential subways<\/span><\/h3>\n

The study is conducted on four axes. The first of which is street dust, which was carried out by mechanical separation of dust particles by soil sieves. This process led to the separation of street dust into seven volume and weight categories. The results of mechanical analysis revealed the existence of two dangerous volumetric categories (sixth 145 g \/ kg) and (seventh 45 g \/ kg), capable of penetrating the respiratory system and infecting it with dangerous diseases. The seventh class is taken because of its great risk and analyzed using SEM and EDS technique to know the sizes and shapes of dust particles and elements in the first envelope of these molecules. The result of analysis showed that the sizes of these particles ranged from (6-88) microns, and the percentage of concentration for elements in the first envelope was iron (4.43%, silicon 18%, chromium 0.02%, copper 1%, aluminium 3%, carbon 33%, cadmium 0.1%, cobalt 0.03%, 5% molipodium, 0.2% titanium, 0.45% sulphur, 1% chlorine, 0.04% nickel). The XRD technique showed the compounds associated with the elements (Si??, NiCx, Si??,?????, ??? (???)?, ??In ??).<\/span><\/h3>\n

The second axis dealt with the study of suspended dust and carried out the same analytical procedures before by using the same techniques mentioned. The rate of dust suspended at the study area in the summer was (24431 micrograms \/ ?3), which is higher than winter quantity (20764 micrograms \/ ?3). Due to the climatic factors of the study area and the quantities have exceeded the global and local limitation of suspended dust. Street dust, population activities and climatic factors play a significant role in increasing these quantities beyond the permissible limit. The percentage of concentration of the elements in the first envelope of these particles (iron 0.5%, carbon 53%, silicon 3.5%, chromium 0.015%, copper 0.1%, nickel 0.14%, Abstract<\/span><\/h3>\n

aluminium 0.75%, chlorine 3.64% and cobalt 0.12%). The dust particles were between (2 – 70.6) microns. A number of compounds related to heavy elements appeared ((Cr, Fe) 23 ?? , SiC , ???????????).<\/span><\/h3>\n

The third axis is concerned with the study of the dust falling on the study area. The rate of this dust in summer was (38.33 g \/?2), higher than the winter amount of (30.66 g \/?2). The quantities of dust dropped exceeded the limits allowed globally. Where climate factors have a significant impact on this increase, and pavement dust has also played a major role in the emission of these types of dust. The concentration of the elements in the first envelope of these particles (iron 12%, carbon 25.1%, silicon 11%, chlorine 1.3%, sulphur 5% and aluminium 2.9%). The size of these particles ranged between (7 – 200) microns. The Compounds connected with heavy elements are (Si??, NiCx, Si??,?????, ??? (???)?, ??In ??, NaSeH, CaO, TiH, CF ???.?).<\/span><\/h3>\n

As for the fourth axis, it studied the ability of a number of plants in the study area to accumulate dust and heavy elements, where the study of each of the following plants (EUCALYPTUS SPP., Ziziphus, Nerium Oleamder, Conocarpus Lancifolins, and PHEONIX DECTYLIFERA L.). The results of the study showed that the best plants to accumulate the dust is the EUCALYPTUS plant (139 kg \/ plant), followed by the Conocarpus plant (46 kg \/ plant) and then the Ziziphus plant (21 kg \/ plant) followed by the Nerium Oleamder plant (3 kg \/ plant), finally PHEONIX DECTYLIFERA plant (0.5 kg \/ plant). As for the accumulation of elements, the plant of the Conocarpus was the best accumulation of 12 different elements, followed by PHEONIX DECTYLIFERA plant accumulation of 11 elements, then followed by plant EUCALYPTUS and Nerium Oleamder and Ziziphus accumulating 10 elements<\/span><\/h3>\n

It is estimated that the amount of dust falling on the study area that estimated as (25 k?2), is (845005 kg \/ month).
