The research composed of three chapters which are shown as follows<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\"><em>Chapter One <\/em>provides a detailed explanation about ultraviolet &#8211; visible absorption spectroscopy. A brief of basic properties of PHE and OXY drugs with a review of the analytical procedures is described in the literature for drugs determination in different methods. The chapter lists two methods for optimization; univariate method and multivariate method. The latter is composed of Multisimplex method and design of experiment method. Finally, this chapter involved the objective of the current study<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\"><em>Chapter Two<\/em> includes the formation reaction of charge transfer complexes between the studied drugs as n-donors and <em>p-<\/em>Bromanil reagent as \u03c0 acceptors, with the experimental part that includes chemicals, solvents and instruments used throughout this work as well as the description of the preparation of standard stock and buffer solutions<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">The colored products were measured spectrophotometrically and absorption maxima were at 395nm for PHE, 455nm and 428nm for OXY against the reagent blanks<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">The optimum reaction conditions and other analytical parameters were evaluated. In addition to classical one &#8211; factor \u2013 a time method, a modified CCF method has been applied in optimization of the variables affecting the color producing reaction. Better optical characteristics for calibration curve and statistical data were evaluated under optimum conditions obtained by CCF optimization in comparison with these obtained via the univariate method<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">Under the CCF conditions, the absorbance of the formed products is conformed to Beer\u2019s law in the concentration range of (5-2) \u03bcg.mL<sup>-1<\/sup>, molar absorptivity of <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366\">(6069.2 L.mol<sup>-1<\/sup>.cm<sup>-1<\/sup>) and limit of detection of (0.4191 \u00b5g. mL<sup>-1<\/sup>) for PHE at 395nm.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and for OXY at 428nm Under the CCF conditions, the absorbance of the formed products is conformed to Beer\u2019s law in the concentration range of (0.5-10) \u03bcg.mL<sup>-1<\/sup>, molar absorptivity of (43634.5 L.mol<sup>-1<\/sup>.cm<sup>-1<\/sup>) and limit of detection of <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366\">(0.1202 \u00b5g. mL<sup>-1<\/sup>) also for OXY at 455nm the molar absorptivity was<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366\">(41616.0 L.mol<sup>-1<\/sup>.cm<sup>-1<\/sup>) and limit of detection was (0.2041 \u00b5g. mL<sup>-1<\/sup>)<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\"><em>Chapter Three<\/em> Derivative spectrophotometric techniques (first, second and third derivatives) were developed for the simultaneous determination of PHE and OXY in their quaternary mixtures. It was found that OXY and PHE could be determined by all modes of derivative (i.e. first to third order)<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">The zero crossing technique was employed in first derivative measurements, using the peak height to baseline at 284nm and 214 nm for PHE and OXY respectively, which was in proportion to the drug concentration therefore they are used for the quantitative estimation of the titled drugs. The second derivative spectra of the same mixtures show that peak height at 206 nm and 213.5nm for PHE and OXY respectively.
