The Abstract:<\/span><\/h4>\n

A simple, fast, affordable, sensitive, and environmentally benign spectrometric method was developed for the quantification of meprobamate (MEP) in bulk medications, i.e. in the form of powder or compressed as tablets. As MEP derivatized into a colored complex by the reaction with the reagent of p-Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (P-DMA) in an acidic medium composed of a mixture of hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid. A red colored complex formed after heating up the mixture to 120\u00a0 for 25min. The resultant red color changes to violet color after the addition of 0.5ml ice water. The eventual violet complex absorbs at a wavelength of 565nm. All the method conditions were optimized by examining each factor thoroughly.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The procedure was applied successfully for the determination of MEP directly and in a blend with other compounds namely Caffeine and Paracetamol since those compounds usually come together in a medicine called paradin which is produced by the State Company for Drugs Industry & Medical Appliances\/ Samarra Drugs Iraq (SDI).<\/span><\/h4>\n
