    Evaluate pollution in water table utilizing GIS techniques<\/span><\/h3>\n

    The objective of this study is to evaluate and study the quality of groundwater in Salah al-Deen governorate in two different locations, Baiji and Samara, using geographic information systems (GIS) techniques<\/span><\/h3>\n

    This work begins with collecting the data about the quality of water that taken from wells of the studied areas. The samples were analyzed to achieve the concentrations of the dissolved elements in the water. The data were collected within the period of (2012-2014) and analyzed by Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources<\/span><\/h3>\n

    To achieve this goal, Baiji’s samples were collected for 23 wells with the randomly of the studied area. Analysis were made with respect\u00a0 the following chemical pollutants (Soluble solids (TDS),Magnesium (Mg), Calcium (Ca),Potassium(k),Nitrate (NO3),Chloride (Cl), Sodium (Na), Sulfates (SO4)). The concentration of pollutant components was also calculated<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Similarly, samples were collected from 28 locations in Samara. The samples were analyzed for chemical pollutants (Soluble solids (TDS), Magnesium (Mg), Calcium (Ca), Potassium(k), Bicarbonate (HCO3<\/sub>), Chloride (Cl), Sodium (Na), Sulfates (SO4)). The analysis of the groundwater samples was carried out as a function of the component \u00a0\u00a0and pollutant of the groundwater. The structure analysis has been made by setting up maps of (Well Height, Well Depth, Static water level, and Dynamics Water level). These maps where designed by ArcGIS software (ver. 10.4). The Inverse Distance Weight interpolation method was used to establish the data map that represents the variable over the studied area. The results for the analysis of the samples taken from Baiji showed that the ratios of (NO3<\/sub>, Mg, Ca and k) was in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) standards, while the concentrations of (SO4, Cl, Na and TDS) exceeded the permissible limit, and they are non-conforming the standards. Samara’s samples analysis showed that the concentrations of TDS and (Mg, Ca, Cl, Na, SO4<\/sub>) exceeded the standard, while the concentration \u00a0of (k, HCO3<\/sub>) were within the limit.<\/span><\/h3>\n
