Summary<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">Celiac disease (or so-called wheat allergy) is an autoimmune disorder which is characterized by chronic inflammation that essentially affects the small intestine and is caused by eating gluten-containing foods. A current study was designed to identify some of the immune and genetic aspects in Iraqi patients with celiac disease. The study included 30 samples of children diagnosed with the celiac disease (male and female), were between 3-15 years of age whom attended to the consulting clinic at the Central Children&#8217;s Hospital, the Private Nursing Hospital and the Specialized Center for Endocrinology and Diabetes\/ Al Kindi Hospital in Baghdad during the Period from August )2018( to March )2019(. They have been confirmed to be infected with celiac by serological examinations and intestinal endoscopy. In addition, the study included 20 healthy children with matched ages to patients, representing the control group who\u2019s randomly selected from children with a negative history of autoimmune diseases<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">Based on general characteristics, histological, serological and molecular examination, the study has been reached the following findings<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">. Incidence of disease was observed in children aged (5-9) and (10-14) by 40% and 50%, respectively, and the number of infected females was 18 (60%) more than male 12 (40%), and the result showed that there was no significant difference (P &gt;0.05). The study showed that the mean of (BMI) in patients was (15.4\u00b12.2 Kg\/m2) compared to (18.2\u00b13.6 Kg\/m2) in control group with a high significant difference (P\u22640.05). Also in terms of weight, the mean of patients&#8217;weight was signi\ufb01cantly lower than the control (22.9\u00b17.2, 31.1\u00b111.6 Kg, respectively) (P\u22640.05). As for height, the highest average of patients was (120.8 \u00b116.8 cm) compared to the height in the control group (129.2 \u00b121.4 cm) with no significant difference (P&gt;0.05).<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">. The highest frequency of patients (73.3%) was noticed within the close relatives parents and followed by (26.7%) in non-relative parents with no significant differences (P&gt;0.05). Also, the incidence of the disease in children with a family history of the diseases was much higher (66%) followed by children whose families were free of the diseases (33%) (P\u22640.05). As well as, the present result showed that there was a high incidence of celiac disease in children whose parents are relatives of the first degree, as well as in the children having a family history of genetic diseases especially; diabetes and thyroidism(53.3%, 6.7% respectively). The study showed a high percentage for diabetes (P\u22640.05), these results revealed a strong genetic link between diabetes and thyroidism with CD<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">. Based on Marsh classification, results revealed that the majority of patients had partial villous atrophy (Marsh \u0428 A) of (70%), While that\u00a0\u00a0 percentage of children with subtotal and total villous atrophy (Marsh III B and III C) were lower than those with partial villous atrophy (13.3%, 16.7% respectively. Neither Marsh InorMarsh II was observed among study patients<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">. The study showed that the highest mean of anti-gliadin IgA antibody in celiac patients (83.8\u00b1119.4 U\/ml)(P\u22640.05) as compared to control group (0.8\u00b10.4 U\/ml. Moreover, antibodies directed against tTGwas showed a high statistical significance between celiac patients and controls (349.3\u00b1556.1 and 0.9\u00b10.5 U\/ml respectively). However, no significant differences (P\u2265 0.05) of anti-gliadine IgA and anti-tTG were observed with different characteristics of the patients under study such as age, sex, body mass index (BMI), kinship between parents, family history of the diseases, chronic diseases in the family as well as marsh classification. It was interesting that anti-tTG IgA showed a high significant difference (P\u22640.05) with gradual increase in the level of intestinal damage classified by Marsh (Marsh IIIA, 202.5\u00b1345.6U\/ml; Marsh IIIB, 382.5\u00b1255.5 U\/ml and Marsh IIIC 939.4\u00b11022.8 U\/ml).Positive correlation was found between anti-tTG levels and modified Marsh grading<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">. Results showed a slight increase in both IL-1\u03b2 serum level of celiac patients(82.7\u00b1179.4 pg\/ml) compared to controls (71.6\u00b151.5 pg\/ml) with no significant difference (P&gt;0.05) and in the level of NLRP3 inflammasome gene expression in celiac patients (3.4\u00b110.5) as compared to control group (1.7\u00b11.8). The result showed that there was no statistical significant differences (P&gt;0.05) were found between IL-1\u03b2 levels and NLRP3 inflammasome gene expression level with the studied characteristics of celiac patients.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #993366\">. ROC analysis showed high sensitivity and specificity of anti-gliad in IgA and anti-tTG in the serum of celiac patients (100%, 95 and 91.7%, 90% respectively), whereas the area under curve (AUC) of anti-gliad in was (0.99) normally higher than (AUC) for anti-tTG (0.95). Results suggest that there was no significant correlation between clinical parameters of patients in the study (P&gt;0.05).
