      A biological experiment was conducted in the glass house of the Department of Biology, College of Education for Pure Sciences – Ibn Al-Haitham, University of Baghdad with the aim of studying the effect of salt stress and melatonin and their interaction in some characteristics of growth and the production of wheat, and the concentrations of sodium chloride 0, 50, 75, 100 mmol. L-1, melatonin concentrations are 0,25, 50, 75, 100 mg. L-1<\/span><\/h3>\n

      The experiment was carried out using completely randomized design with two factors: salt stress and melatonin and three replicates that included 60 pots weighing each of 11 kg and the results were analyzed statistically by using less significance different at probability level 5%<\/span><\/h3>\n

      The results of the experiment showed that the effect of salt stress led to a significant decrease in most of the characteristics studied, especially at concentration 100 mmol.L-1, when the concentration was raised from 0-100 mmol.L-1 the height of the plant decreased by 4.71% and the area of the flag leaf by 9.89% and the number of leaves.plant-1 by 20.71%, dry weight by 32.48%, the chlorophyll of flag leaf rontent 12.41%, and the concentration of IAA 42.43%, the concentration of kinetin 24.32% and the concentration of zeat in 36.77%, spike length 13.28%, and number of spikelets spike-1 by 16.34%, and the weight of the spike is 27.38%, the number of grains. spike-1 by 14.58% and the number of grains. Pots-1 by 15.11%, weight of 1000 grains 13.36%, weight of the yield by 25.63%, carbohydrates ratio by 13.54%, and percentage protein% by 10.98%<\/span><\/h3>\n

      The results also showed that the effect of salt stress led to a significant increase in some of the characteristics studied, especially at concentration on 100 mmol.L-1 when the concentration is raised from 0-100 mmol.L-1 the total activity of the superoxide dismutase enzyme has increased by 20.64%, the total activity of the peroxidase enzyme 83.91% and the total activity of the catalase is 50.56% and the concentration of proline acid is 152.08%, \u03b1 tocopherol by21.99 % and concentration of absisic acid by 81.25%<\/span><\/h3>\n

      The effect of melatonin has led to a significant increase in most of the characteristics studied, especially at concentration 100 mg.L-1, the height of the plant increased by 4.25%, the area of the flag leaf by 12.19% and the number of leaves plant-1 23.12%, dry weight by 36.27%, chlorophyll flag leaf by 16.82%, and the total activity of superoxide dismutase enzyme 20.64%, the total activity of the peroxidase enzyme 64.47%, the total activity of the catalase??, and the concentration of proline acid 64.47%, \u03b1 tocopherol24.35%, IAA concentration by 123.44% and the concentration of kinetin 86.36% and the concentration of zeatin 180.33%, spike length by 23.31%, spike weight by 41.71%, number of grains.spike-1 by 22.50% and the number of grins pots-1 by\u00a0 22.76% and weight of 1000 gm by 18.99%, the weight of the yield is 44.62%, the percentage of protein% by 18.90% while the melatonin caused a significant decrease in the concentration of absisic acid with a decreased ratio of 44.82%. The results of the experiment also showed a significant effect of the interaction between salt stress and melatonin in most vegetative growth and physiological characteristics, and the characteristics of the qualitative yield and their components<\/span><\/h3>\n
