This study included the determination of some of the physical and chemical properties of the Al-Gharaf River water samples, as well as the determination of the concentrations of some heavy metals in water samples, as well as measuring and analyzing some chemicals properties of river bottom tissue. Also, This study aimed to study qualitative and quantitative of algae community especially <em>Phragmites australis<\/em> ex Stand, also the study also included using of a Palmer Pollution guide to evaluating the pollution in the river environment<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The results showed the effect of changes in climate and human activities on the values and averages of the chemical and physical properties within the study area, and the averages of parameters ranged as follows: The temperature for both water and air was between 15-34.67C\u00b0, 14.5-25.67C\u00b0, respectively, and the flow velocity corresponded to the nature of the river as it was in range between 12.4-30.33 m \/ min, the river depth, turbidity, and permeability values were fluctuating with different seasons and locations, the range was between 2.53-5.45 meters, 19.67-37.67 cm for depth and 2.43-7.39 NUT, for turbidity. The values \u200b\u200bof electrical conductivity, total soluble materials and sodium chloride concentration were increased in the spring, as their values range were between 610-1127 \u03bcS\/cm, 523-717 mg\/l, 0.046-2.1 mg\/l, respectively. The pH recorded values \u200b\u200bof a limited range the river water was light basic, as its values were between 7.27 &#8211; 8.46, and there was an increase in the values \u200b\u200bof dissolved oxygen and the biological oxygen demand in the winter and spring seasons and decreased in summer and autumn, respectively, as concentrations were ranged from 2.98-1.6 mg\/L and 2.46 to 8.73 mg\/L, respectively. The study showed that the values of nitrates, nitrites and phosphates are affected by rainwater, as well as from the residues resulting from different human activities which are reaching the river, as their values ranged between 0.72-6.0 mg\/l, 0.031 -0.357 mg\/l and 0.128-1.893 mg\/l, respectively. Also, the silicates were characterized by high concentrations in all locations in the different seasons, as they ranged between 3.19-8.48 mg\/liter. The effect of climate was also observed in the sulfate concentrations as the highest concentration was recorded in the spring, and the concentrations ranged between 170.3-468.3 mg\/liter. The effect of human activities was significantly demonstrated in measuring the total concentration averages of some heavy metals.
