The study included general and accurate phenotypic aspects in addition to the anatomical aspects. The field survey was conducted for most of the districts and areas of Sulaimaniyah district in northern Iraq, the species studied are present. As a result, new areas of propagation were registered for some species that were not mentioned in previous studies.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">A comparative morphological study was conducted to the species of the genus, which included the indumentum of the epidermis of the stems, leaves and their petioles, and the epidermis of the petals, as well as a study of the venation system of the leaves. The quantitative and qualitative variations of these characters were studied and they were accompanied by pictures of the different morphological characters.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">The results of the indumentum morphological of the epidermis of the stems, the leaves and their petioles, and the petals for the species of genus Veronica as a component of uniseriate and multicellular unglandular hairs and glandular hairs and its presence varied in different types, the distribution of veins inside the blade leaf of the plant was also studied, where the study showed that the system of venation in the genus Veronica is reticulate, and the type of venation was different in the types of genus Veronica and on this basis it was divided into three groups, the first group was the type of Basal Acrodromous that it consists of three main branches begins at the base of the leaf and ends at the top, includes V. anagalis, V. officinalis, V. intercedens, V. cymblaria and V. syriaca. In the second group was the type of acrodromous of Suprabasal type, which consists of three main branches that begins from above the leaf base and ends at the top, includes species V. anagalloids and the third group, the type of venation was simple, Pinnatelly Mixed Craspedodromous type, in which some branches terminate at the edge of the leaf and others do not reach the edge of the leaf, include V. beccabunca, V. minuta, V. persica, V. polita, V. macrostacky, V. orientalis and V. viscosa.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">The results of the anatomical study of the stem epidermis, leaves, and the epidermis of the petals showed that the epidermis consists of ordinary epidermal cells with different vertical walls in the studied species, interspersed with complexes of stomata, which were different styles between species.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">The anatomical study of the transverse sections of the roots of genus Veronica species showed that all the roots are in the secondary growth stage, the study results also showed that there is a difference in the shapes of the transverse sections in the stem and on this basis they were divided into two groups, the first group included species with ribbed stem or square shape included V. anagalis, V. viscosa, V. officinalis and V. anagalloids and the second group included the species with circular stems to ovule and included the rest of the species, the tissues of the cortex also differed in the studied species and on this basis can be divided according to type of the cortex into two groups, the first group included the species whose cortex was composed of Aernchyma cells, in the species V. anagalis, V. anagalloids and V. beccabunga, The second group included the species whose cortex was composed of Chlorencyma cells and included the rest of the species.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">The species showed a difference in the mesophyll of the leaves and on this basis it was divided into two groups, the first group included the species with bifacial mesophyll where the mesophyll is in two palisade layers to the top and one spongy layer to the bottom, and the second group included the species with a mesophyll consisting of one sponge layer only, in addition to variation of vascular bundles of the midrib between the studied species, as well as surrounding the vascular bundle of the midrib in all species by parenchymatous bundle sheath, that is a parenchyma cells that form a sheath surrounding the vascular bundle in the leaves and they are also called photosynthesis cells where they are arranged in tightly packed casings around the leaf vessels to form a protective cover on the veins of the leaves, as the leaves differed between them in owing a petiole or not, it was considered a distinctive characteristic of species.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">The results of the accurate Palynological study to the species of Veronica showed that the pollen in all species was isopolar, radially symmetrical, and the germination holes in species of genus Veronica were in the form of a longitudinal incision known as Colpi and the number of these openings differed in the studied species, it could be divided into three groups according to the number of germination holes, the first group included the species have pollen grains consisting of three 3-zonocolpate holes, the second group included the species have pollen grains consisting of 6-zonocolpate holes, and the sizes of pollen varied in the species of the genus Veronica species, where it could be divided into two groups, the first group included species where the size of the pollen was small and the second group included species that were the size of the pollen was medium.
