Two techniques were applied to do the study:\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The first is the gamma-ray spectroscopy with a high-purity germanium detector (HPGe) with an efficiency of 40% and energy resolution of (2.41keV), where the spectroscopic measurements of gamma- rays showed that the specific radioactivity for natural radioactive radionuclide (238U, 232Th, 40K,) and industrial nucleus(137Cs) in 31sample of topsoil ranged from(7.888\u00b12.809 to 25.603\u00b15.059Bq\/kg), (14.890\u00b13.858to35.473\u00b15.956Bq\/kg),(199.574\u00b114.127to564.642\u00b123.762Bq\/kg),and(5.426\u00b12.329to18.733\u00b14.328Bq\/kg, respectively), and for the radiological indicators (Raeq, D\u0263, AEDEin, AEDEout,\u00a0 ELCD,\u00a0 Hex, Hin,\u00a0 and I\u02e0),\u00a0 all are within the universally accepted limit so no hazard of people lives in the locations under study.\u00a0 The second technique is the CR-39, which was used to measure the internal radon concentration in air, where 200 pieces of this detector were distributed in these buildings for 30days at a height of 150cm above the ground. The results showed that the concentration of this gas inside government institutions ranged from (23.882\u00b16.67 to300.465\u00b140.99Bq\/m3), in the two factories of private sector ranged from (123.345\u00b112.78to 328.985\u00b146.07Bq\/m3), while in 24 living rooms ranged (13\u00b12.65 to 305.857\u00b146.04Bq\/m3),and in 25 bedrooms (20.482\u00b13.35 to 329.928\u00b137.49Bq\/m3) which were the highest values. The radiological health effects of this gas (AED, PAEC, LCR, and EP) were all within the international safety limit.\u00a0 All the results obtained in this study were compared with the results of many Iraqi and international research in the same field and were well convergent.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">Future work<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">This study is a part of the process of monitoring and ensuring the safety insurance of people from radiation effects and environmental pollution, which destroy humans and their environment and the living organisms.
