Therefore, classification accuracy was subjected to many studies to increase its value, and this research work falls within this path. This study focuses on the effect of using ICA transform on the classification accuracy of satellite images using the maximum likelihood classifier. The study area represents an agricultural area north of the capital Baghdad &#8211; Iraq, as it was captured by the Landsat 8 satellite on 12 January 2021, where the bands of the OLI sensor were used. A field was made to a variety of classes that represent the landcover of the study area and the geographical location of these classes was recorded<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Gaussian, Kurtosis, and LogCosh kernels were used to perform the ICA transform of the OLI Landsat 8 scene. Different training sets were separately made for each of the ICA and Landsat 8 scene that used in the classification phase, and the classification accuracy calculation. Statistical analysis for the result of the classification of each scene is presented for each class, using ENVI 5.3 program<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">\u00a0The study showed that the ICA transform makes the satellite image significantly increases the classification accuracy. The ICA Gaussian kernel gave the highest classification accuracy is (99.02 %) than other kernels.
