    Abstract<\/span><\/h3>\n

    \u00a0 The aim of the research is to identify the chemical identity thinking and its relationship to solving scientific problems among the students of the College of Education for Pure Sciences. The correlative descriptive research method was adopted, and the research sample consisted of (200) male and female students from the fourth stage of the academic year 2021 \/ 2022 AD, two tools were prepared for research. One of them was the chemical identity thinking test that consisted of four main patterns represented by the thinking pattern (sensible, principled, synthetic, and interactive) with (20) paragraphs, and the other tool was a scientific problem solving test that consisted of six skills represented by (problem identification, problem representation, problem solving plan , clarifying the problem-solving plan, conclusion, and evaluation) and it consisted of (25) paragraphs of the type of multiple choice, whose validity and reliability were verified.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    \u00a0The statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS+22) and the statistical program (Amos (4.01) were adopted to process the search statistics using equations (difficulty, discrimination and effectiveness of wrong alternatives, Spearman-Brown, Rollon, Alpha Cronbach, t-test for two independent samples, t-test for one independent sample, and correlation equation). Pearson, factorial analysis, and one-way analysis of variance, the statistical results showed<\/span><\/h3>\n

    – There is a discrepancy in the patterns of chemical identity thinking, as the initial thinking pattern got the first rank by (70%) of the sample, and the perceptible thinking style came in the second rank by (20%) of the sample, while the synthetic thinking style got the third rank by (7%) ) of the sample, and the interactive thinking style came in fourth place and got (3%) of the sample<\/span><\/h3>\n

    – There is a statistically significant difference in the patterns of chemical identity thinking among the students of the research sample in favor of the initial thinking pattern.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    – There is a weakness among the students of the research sample in adopting the synthetic and interactive chemical thinking patterns.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    – There is a statistically significant difference between the students of the research sample on the test of solving scientific problems as a whole with an acceptable degree<\/span><\/h3>\n

    – The students of the research sample have the ability to identify the problem, represent the problem, choose a problem-solving plan, clarify the problem-solving plan, and conclude when solving chemical problems to an acceptable degree.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    – There is no statistically significant difference between the students of the research sample in the field of verification and evaluation on the test of solving chemical problems, which means that the students have weaknesses in this field.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    – The correlation between chemical identity thinking and solving scientific problems is statistically significant, and it is a positive direct relationship.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    The research recommended that the Department of Chemistry should pay attention to developing students\u2019 understanding of chemical identity thinking and patterns by asking chemistry problems from life and making connections between the branches of chemistry when teaching their concepts, with faculty members adopting educational positions in the form of problems in chemistry that the student solves.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Second: Recommendations<\/span><\/h3>\n

    The need for the Department of Chemistry to pay attention to developing students’ understanding by thinking about the chemical identity and its patterns by raising the problems of chemistry in life and making a link between the branches of chemistry when teaching its concepts.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    – Directing faculty members in chemistry departments to integrate patterns of thinking about chemical identity in the content of chemistry courses on the theoretical and practical sides.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    – Organizing courses and seminars for faculty members in the faculties of education to inform them of the purposes of chemical identity thinking and the way to achieve it.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    – Benefiting from the chemical identity thinking test as a tool to detect it among university students.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    -, directing the faculty members to pay attention to the two types of chemical thinking, synthetic and interactive, by providing all the necessary chemicals and equipment so that the student can conduct all the necessary reactions to classify and distinguish chemicals and reveal the identity of chemicals using scientific problem solving.<\/span><\/h3>\n

    – The faculty members adopt educational situations in the form of problems in chemistry that the student solves, including areas (identifying the problem, representing it, developing a plan to solve it, clarifying the plan to solve the problem, and deriving results and justifying them).<\/span><\/h3>\n
